There she is! First chance for rubberneckin' Como Zoo's newest giraffe baby

Author:

She's a shy little thing.

Well, not that little. The Como Zoo's newest baby giraffe is already 5'8" and on her way to perhaps a full growth height of 18 feet--by the time she's two.

The Pioneer Press reported that mother Clover had to nudge and coax her newest daughter for over an hour before the calf emerged for her premiere public stroll, ambling with the family in the zoo's outdoor yard.

MPR found her Sept. 1 birth to be blog-worthy.

The unnamed baby is the fifth born to mom Clover and is the Como Zoo's fourth giraffe--the newborn; her sister, Daisy, her father, Skeeter; and the prolific Clover.
