Police were on the lookout for drunk drivers over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, and they wound up making 370 arrests for DWI.
The Minnesota State Patrol says they all occurred from 6 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Sunday, and if that number seems high it's because it is.
According to WCCO, there were 346 DWI arrests in Minnesota the last time St. Patrick's Day fell on a weekend, in 2012. The DWI numbers have been much lower when the holiday falls on a weekday, like last year when there were 175 arrests.
The 370 arrests over the weekend happened despite Metro Transit offering free rides on buses and light rail from 6 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday.
