There's only one Don Pablo's restaurant left in Minnesota

Tex-Mex restaurant chain Don Pablo's has closed its latest eatery in Minnesota – and now there's only one left.

The closure of its Richfield restaurant was confirmed after the website Auction Nation launched a liquidation auction for the unit at the Shops at Lyndale.

Commercial grade ice-makers, refrigerators, ovens, grills, coolers and fryers are among the items being sold.

The Don Pablo's website shows only one remaining open restaurant in Minnesota, its eatery at Viking Drive in Eden Prairie.

It marks a fall from grace for the once-popular chain, with the Star Tribune reporting Richfield has become the eighth of its restaurants to close in Minnesota in recent years.

The others were in Eagan, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Roseville, Woodbury, Bloomington and Maple Grove.

There have been reports in other parts of the country of other Don Pablo's restaurants closing down recently, including in Greenville, South Carolina, Newport, Kentucky, and Flint Township in Michigan.

The Business Journal reports Don Pablo's once had more than 100 restaurants across America, but now has fewer than 20.

The chain is owned by Food Management Partners, a company known for buying restaurant brands out of bankruptcy and implementing "aggressive staff cuts and unit closures," according to Nation's Restaurant News.

Last August, FMP also acquired Ovation Brands, the parent company of Old Country Buffet, and what followed was the closure of all but one of the remaining OCBs in Minnesota.

In April 2015, thousands of people suddenly lost their jobs in California, Arizona and Nevada when 70 Coco's Bakery and Carrows outlets were closed down, a month after San Antonio-based FMP had acquired its parent company, the Pacific Coast Business Times reported.
