A healthier and higher-spirited Bob Dylan performed Tuesday night in Rochester, the Star Tribune reports. The 71-year-old Minnesota native seemed to be in a good mood during his first concert in the state in four years, which is not always the case, the newspaper notes. Dylan's performance was was a bit unusual in that he stuck to the piano most of the show, which is not his best instrument, the Star Tribune review says.

Long time concert-goer David Olson of Rochester tells the Post Bulletin, "As a performer, he tries to stay fresh, so he’ll take these old songs and just recreate them, because he’s such a great artist. He doesn’t listen to the pundits and all the criticism. He just does what he thinks he needs to do."

Dylan kicked off his set list with "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" followed by "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" and "Things Have Changed." He wrapped up with an encore performance of "Blowin' in the Wind."

Dylan will be at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Nov. 7.

A clip from the Rochester show wasn't immediately available. Here's video of Dylan's performance with Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brother's at the 2011 Grammy Awards.
