What do we think of Spotify's 'Song of the Summer' predictions?

You can't force a "Song of the Summer."

They're tracks that, even if you hate them, you still can't help but dance a little when they come on. And because the song is played everywhere, all your friends and family can hum or sing at least a snippet of it.

For some hard-to-pinpoint reason, they just resonate with the pop culture of the time. Think "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk a few years ago, or, going way back, "Livin' la Vida Loca."

But Spotify? The people over there think they can predict 2017's "Songs of the Summer" beforehand.

Spotify says it used streaming data, playlist and chart performance and social media buzz to analyze songs, and figure out which ones are most likely to be summer hits. Check out the playlist:

It includes a lot of big names (way to go out on a limb and predict a Katy Perry song will be a hit).

But what do the experts think? GoMN asked some of our DJ friends at Go 95.3 and Go 96.3 to offer their opinion. Here's what they had to say about Spotify's prediction playlist.

Jordan

"For all intents and purposes, it's solid. The list is a little too poppy for my taste, which is saying a lot because I am a sucker for that bubblegum nonsense.

I could go on and on about how great Miley's new single is or how hard XO TOUR Llif3 goes, but we got to discuss that Katy Perry song 'Swish Swish.' It's absolute garbage! It's the sonic equivalent of cringing and it has no place soundtracking your grill out, day on the lake, or car ride. Stay away from that. You deserve better."

"I think they got it right for the most part. The one thing that stands out to me is 'Mask Off.' The popularity of that record has already peaked. I don't know if the song of the spring still has legs to also be the song of the summer.

One sleeper that they didn't mention is 'Heebiejeebies' by Aminé ft Kehlani. It just dropped and it's a gem. Has huge potential this summer!"

Giselle

"No. Just no. Teeny bopper snooze fest. What is this?

Are these songs going to be streamed like crazy this season? Hell yes. Like CRAZY – especially with Justin Bieber in there twice. Do they scream summertime jams a la wet n wild barbecue dance party? Not really.

Try again, Spotify."

Dana Wessel

"I think the list looks solid and very comprehensive. There is a good mix on the list for any and all moods you might be going through this summer.

My main problem with this list is the lack of songs sung by Jagged Edge featuring Nelly in which they inquire where the party is at. We all know that is the greatest summer song of all time. But there are a few on this list that have the potential to be future classics."
