The man contacted a Hibbing DNR officer, who decided to try to subdue the bear and pull out the quills before sending him back to the wild. But the bear who was tame enough to pet didn't like the rescue attempt too much at first.

Fargo responders rescue dog from icy river

A cold and whining black lab was only able to pull himself halfway onto the ice after falling in the Red River. Officials from the Fargo Fire Department donned ice rescue gear to pull the grateful pup from the water. The rescuer brought along a video camera as he wandered out onto the ice.
