This morning's commute is starting to get messy

If you're heading to work this morning you'd be advised to check the traffic situation before you leave.

On Wednesday night, southbound Highway 100 between W 50th St. and W 44th St. was reduced to a single lane as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the busy road.

Already at 6 a.m. Thursday morning there was congestion, and that's likely to only get worse as more people make their way to work.

Here's a look at the situation at 6:30 a.m. on Google's live traffic monitor, which shows traffic is extremely slow on the stretch between I-394 and W 50th St.

There have also been early morning delays on eastbound I-94 at Maple Grove, with overnight construction work causing traffic to slow to around Broxton Lane, KSTP reported.

Highway 100 southbound will be down to a single lane until Friday night, when the whole road closes between I-394 and Highway 62 for the weekend. It will reopen again with two lanes each-way at 5 a.m. Monday.

People have been on Twitter complaining about the traffic problems.
