This week in music: Country 'Idol' McCreery makes Minn. tour stop

Three country music stars are headlining two major venues in Minnesota this week.

Appropriately billed as the "Weekend Roadtrip Tour 2013," Scotty McCreery is kicking off his weekend playing Friday night at Mystic Lake Hotel & Casino in Prior Lake.

McCreery, 19, got his big break on the 10th season of "American Idol" in 2011, becoming the hit reality singing competition's youngest male winner in the show's history.

The rising country star kicked off his our last month in Pennsylvania, impressing Sight of Sound magazine, which called McCreery "the new face of country music in America."

The review also noted that McCreery made his concert "seem so effortless and well rehearsed, almost as if he had been doing this for years already."

See the video for McCreery's hit "Water Tower Town" below.

On Saturday , country stars Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tills will be co-headlining a show at Grand Casino Hinckley in Hinckley.

The concert is the latest in singers' long-running "Grits and Glamour Tour." In a review of one of their concerts in Kentucky last fall, Country Universe said the tour was "all about the fans, and all about great music."

The review noted that the concert had no "unnecessary gimmicks, bells, or whistles," just "Tillis and Morgan singing their hearts out."
