Former and current cast members of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" are making stops in Minnesota to do stand-up shows this week.

Tracy Morgan, who just finished his seven season run on "30 Rock," is set to do his stand-up act at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center Wednesday, before he travels to do a show at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Thursday.

Morgan's 50-city tour is largely centered in the Midwest and mid-sized cities -- part of a strategy that was by design, he told the Star Tribune's Neal Justin in an interview.

“Stand-up allows me to touch other markets that I’ve never touched before and people who have never seen my act," Morgan said.

Dubbed the "Excuse my French" tour, Morgan has never been afraid to push the envelope with his material -- evidenced by his anti-gay rant on stage in 2011 -- which was followed but quickly apology.

Morgan's Minnesota stops are a part of a prelude to a national tour that will kick off May 2, which includes another stop here at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis May 4.

If Morgan's past shows are any indication, fans should be prepared. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said Morgan in his August show in St. Louis delivered "squirm-inducing laughs" was could best be described as "gutbucket dirty."

"Saturday Night Live" star Seth Meyers, meanwhile, will step out from behind his "Weekend Update" anchor desk for a stand-up show Saturday night at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Welch.

Unlike Morgan, Meyers is not on a regular tour; rather he's squeezing in dates during his time off from performing on "Saturday Night Live."

Meyers told WCCO's Chad Hartman in an interview that "Saturday Night Live" is currently on a three-week break, and said he never really gave the thought of taking a rest much thought.

"I love being out on the road, Meyers said."It's really fun to do shows. It's a great way to travel the country."
