Not all Thanksgiving Day events are taking place around the dinner table in Minnesota Thursday.

In Hastings, more than 3,000 people turned out for the 15th annual Gobble Gait, the Hastings Star Gazette reported.

The event, which raises money for Hastings Family Service, has secured more than $750,000 since its inception.

In the Twin Cities, the 5th annual Walk for Hunger took place Thursday morning at the Mall of America.

Last year, the event attracted nearly 2,000 participants and raised more than $275,000, KARE-TV reported.

KARE reported that organizers this year hope to raise $325,000. As of Wednesday night, they were $90,000 short of thier goal.

Once families gather around their tables, an average Thanksgiving Dinner for a family of 10 costs $49.48, KMSP-TV reported.

The station cited findings by the American Farm Bureau Federation, which has been conducting the Thanksgiving dinner survey since 1986 -- when the average cost of the meal was $28.74.
