Three hospitalized after shooting in Hudson, Wis. parking lot

Three people were hospitalized and two are in custody after a shooting in the parking lot of a strip mall in downtown Hudson, Wis.

The Pioneer Press reports police were called to the triple shooting in front of Spirit Seller Liquors at 9:22 on Sunday morning. One woman and two men were taken from there to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Hudson police told the newspaper about 10 shots were fired when two groups of people from two different vehicles got involved in an altercation in the parking lot.

KMSP said that at least two of the people who were shot have non-life threatening injuries. Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen told the station that some of those involved in the shooting were possibly in Hudson to purchase liquor because Minnesota liquor stores are closed on Sunday. The Star Tribune says both cars had Minnesota license plates.

Witnesses reported that the suspects fled the Hudson scene in a tan Cadillac. KSTP reported that Eagan police spotted the car on Interstate 494 and followed it to a hotel near the Mall of America. Quoting police scanner reports, the Pioneer Press said two males walked into the hotel carrying a white bag. When they came back outside, they no longer had it. They were arrested shortly afterwards by Bloomington police and remain in custody.

Police have recovered the bag, which they said held a half-empty box of shells but no handgun had been located. Hudson police have recovered the car for processing.
