Thrillist says Minnesota is one of the best states for summer (obviously)

What's not to love? (Apart from the mosquitoes)
Author:

We have thousands of lakes, weather that’s hot but not too hot and the State Fair, aside from mosquitoes summers in Minnesota are pretty much perfect.

They’re so good, in fact, that Thrillest ranked Minnesota as being the second best state to enjoy a summer in the U.S. – behind only Washington state.

That’s right, a Minnesota summer is better than a Hawaiian and Californian one, and Thrillist itself admits that the Land of 10,000 Lakes Is more than deserving of first place.

"After spending some time there," Thrillist’s writer says, "I can begrudgingly admit that they [meaning Minnesotans] aren’t exaggerating on the summertime fun front … in fact, they’ll probably be angry they weren’t number 50 instead of Washington.

"You know what? They might not be wrong."

Thrillist mentions number 50 because it didn’t rank states in order of the best summer, but the worst – with Mississippi taking the unwanted number 1 spot ahead of Louisiana.

The article’s description of Minnesota does make reference to Minnesotans’ fierce defense of the state’s warmer months.

"Make no mistake, mention the word ‘summer’ in front of a Minnesotan they are bound by state law to lecture on the state’s allegedly unparalleled summers for no less than nine months."

Most of the best states for summers are in the north of the country, which suggests Thrillist isn’t a fan of the searing heat and humidity of the south.

It’s probably fair to say Minnesota wouldn’t fare quite as well in a ranking of the best winters.
