Been enjoying the revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on Netflix? Now you can watch it on the stage.
Tickets go on sale Friday for the MST3K nationwide "Watch Out for Snakes" tour, which is paying a stop at the State Theatre in Minneapolis on Aug. 4.
Appearing on the stage will be Joel Hodgson, the Wisconsin-born brainchild of the original show that first appeared on KTMA public TV in Minneapolis in 1988. Hodgson will be joined by Jonah Ray, who plays the show's new host Jonah Heston.
Accompanying them will be Hollywood star Patton Oswalt, who plays TV's Son of TV's Frank, and Felicia Day reprising her screen role as Kinga Forrester. Robot companions Crow, Tom Servo and Gypsy will also make an appearance.
Unusually for a tour, the date in Minneapolis comprises two separate, "completely unique" shows on the same night, the first starting at 7:30 p.m. and the second at 10 p.m.
The first, called "Eegah," will feature "all-new riffs and sketches" while the second, called "Secret Surprise Film" will feature a "fun, sci-fi thriller never before featured on MST3K."
Only a handful of cities get to experience both shows and Minneapolis is one of them, though organizers promise that both will feature MST3K's usual combo of "a cheesy B-movie, hilarious rigging, wisecracking robots, silly sketches and – for the first time – audience participation."
The cult show was revived on Netflix following a successful Kickstarter campaign.
