Tips lead police to man suspected of stealing donations for military families

Earlier this week, police in Chaska asked for help to identify a man they say stole a jar of donations for military families from a Super America.

In a news release on Friday afternoon, the Chaska Police Department said that thanks to several tips from the public, they were able to identify the suspect.

Detectives had released a photo of a man from the gas station's surveillance footage on Facebook.

They said the suspect was in the Super America at Highway 41 and Hundertmark Road around midnight on June 2, and had asked other customers for gas money before taking off with the jar of donations.

Authorities say that a 34-year-old man from St. Paul has admitted to his involvement and will be charged with misdemeanor theft. BringMeTheNews does not name suspects until they face criminal charges.

The department posted an update on Facebook and said that they appreciate the public's help in finding the suspect.
