Toddler who drowned earlier this week is identified

The toddler who died Tuesday in a Corcoran holding pond has been identified as 2-year-old Charlie J. Vollrath, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner said.

Officials reported that Vollrath, from Loretto, died of a freshwater drowning.

Corcoran Police, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol Division and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner are continuing an investigation.

A brief statement released earlier this week says family members found the boy unresponsive in a holding pond near Corcoran at about 4:20 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies and Corcoran police responded but paramedics were unable to revive the toddler.

Vollrath's funeral will be held Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenfield, his obituary said.
