Brief tornado spotted in southern MN Sunday night


A funnel cloud was spotted in southern Minnesota Sunday night, which prompted the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado on the ground near Waseca around 8:21 p.m., FOX 9 reports. There were no reports of any major damage or injuries.

The weather service has since canceled any severe weather alerts, but does say some thunderstorms will persist through Monday.

A line of storms pushed across southern Minnesota Friday. The Star Tribune reports one tornado destroyed some farm buildings, toppled trees and knocked out power near Kiester. The National Weather Service says another round of thunderstorms is possible Saturday through Sunday.
