The Vikings shocked the football world Wednesday by announcing offensive coordinator Norv Turner's resignation.

The news broke around 9:45 a.m and head coach Mike Zimmer addressed the media about it a little more than an hour later.

Even with a short window of time, some players weren't aware of Turner's resignation when media entered the locker room for weekly interviews shortly after Zimmer's press conference, according to multiple reports.

Sam Bradford found out from his wife and Matt Asiata found out from reporters.

Zimmer admitted that he had yet to inform the team of Turner's departure, but it's still odd that the Vikings made national news before letting their own players know. However, as USA Todays's Tom Pelissero notes, the Vikings didn't have their normal Wednesday player meeting because they are coming off a Monday game rather than a Sunday game.

And like the players, even Zimmer was “very, very surprised” by Turner's decision.
