TV series revisits Minnesota murder

Author:

A cable television network is training its spotlight on a Minnesota murder case that took more than a decade to solve. The 1989 killing of Sharon Bloom is a case that went cold for years before enhancements in DNA technology led to a breakthrough.

Bloom left her 3M office in Woodbury for lunch and never returned. Her body was found 10 days later in a Rice County cornfield. A co-worker finally pleaded guilty to her murder in 2003.

The persistence, and eventual success, of investigators makes the case a popular one to scrutinize. It will be featured Saturday on Motives & Murders: Cracking the Case, which is broadcast on the Investigation Discovery channel. It was previously featured on an A&E series, Cold Case Files.
