We already know Minnesota is a pretty great place for craft beer lovers – and it turns out it's great if you love craft spirits, too.

That's according to Travelocity and the American Distilling Institute, which teamed up to create the first-ever Craft Spirits Tourism Index. And of the top 10 large metro areas, Minneapolis and St. Paul came in at No. 8 on the list, a news release says.

The list (see all the cities that made the top 10 below) took into account the number of craft distilleries by population, the awards local craft spirits makers have won, how accessible they are by plane, and the cost of hotels.

There are more than 1,000 small distilleries across the country, the release notes, including more than 20 in Minnesota – the majority of them are in the Twin Cities. (Check out this map by The Growler to see where they all are.)

And the number of distilleries continues to grow nationwide, with the American Distilling Institute noting the number of craft distilleries is on pace to double in the next three to five years.
