Twin Cities traffic tie-ups: construction complicates weekend driving

Author:

There's a lot going on in the Twin Cities this weekend. On top of a number of detours due to festivals, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reports some major road construction projects you need to be aware of.

A stretch of Interstate 35W in Bloomington is closed for repair work on the 94th Street bridge.

Meanwhile, getting around Brooklyn Center will be tricky. The Brooklyn Boulevard bridge over Highway 100 will be closed. Additionally, parts of the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 100 will be closed in that area.

There is also major bridge work being done on Highway 52 and Highway 55 in Inver Grove Heights. Southbound Highway 169 through Edina will be slow due to construction there.

Star Tribune reports that buses will be detoured as they pass through St. Paul's Highland Park area as Highland Fest takes place.

MNDOT has a list of all current construction projects as well as a web page that tracks traffic throughout all of Minnesota.

In addition to the construction, a number of festivals in the metro will also cause traffic tie-ups.
