The Twins claimed left-handed pitcher Adam Wilk off waivers from the New York Mets Wednesday.

Minnesota optioned Drew Ruchinski back to Triple-A to make room for Wilk, who will join the club in Chicago on Thursday.

With the Twins game getting rained out on Wednesday, Phil Hughes will start on Thursday followed by Ervin Santana on Friday.

According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, the Twins view Wilk as a reliever and either Nick Tepesh, Jose Berrios or Adalberto Mejia will start on Saturday. Minnesota will have to make another roster move to recall Berrios or Mejia.

If you've been following the fiasco with Matt Harvey and the Mets, you may be aware of Wilk. The southpaw made a spot start last Sunday after Harvey was suspended by the Mets for violating team rules.

The New York Post recently did a post on how the Mets put Wilk through hell before even taking the mound.

Wilk allowed 6 runs (5 earned) and three home runs in a 7-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. It was just his second start in the majors since 2012.

The 29-year-old has spent time with the Rays, Angels, Pirates and Tigers organizations. He has a career ERA of 3.67 in 159 games in the minor leagues, while making just 10 appearances (four starts) at the major league level.

It's the second pitcher to be added by the Twins this week, as the team acquired Kevin Champan in a trade for Danny Santana on Monday.
