Two men are hospitalized in critical condition after they were stabbed several times by two assailants early Saturday morning in Fridley, KSTP reports. Officials are looking for the assailants, as well as two women who were either witnesses or might have been involved in setting up the victims.

Police say the men, both 21 years old, were at the Two Stooges Bar in Fridley when two women they met there asked for a ride to a nearby apartment at closing time, about 2 a.m.

The men agreed, and when they arrived at the destination, two men approached the car and attacked the victims, stabbing them several times; the women fled. The victims were able to escape, and drove to another location where one of them called police at about 4:30 a.m., according to the Star Tribune. They were identified as Anthony McCollum of Hilltop and Yani Singh of Columbia Heights, according to KSTP.

One of the victims was conscious when police arrived, but the other was unresponsive. McCollum was taken to Unity Hospital in Fridley and Singh was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center; they are both in critical condition, KSTP reports.

Police say the two weren't able to describe the suspects in detail.

Authorities are looking for evidence from surveillance cameras in the area to try to identify the attackers. The Star Tribune reports the security camera at Two Stooges was not working properly, according to a spokesman for the Anoka County Sheriff's department.

Police say they don't know whether the two women were part of a plan to lure the victims to the attackers, or were merely witnesses, the Star Tribune notes. They're asking the women, as well as anyone else who might have information about the incident, to come forward and contact the Fridley Police Department at 763-427-1212, or the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at 763-427-1212.
