Police say two men got into an argument Tuesday afternoon outside a restaurant in Brooklyn Center and ended up shooting each other, FOX 9 reports. Both men were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Checkers Drive In restaurant on 66th Avenue North near Highway 252.

Police say two groups of people were in the parking lot, when a man from each group began arguing with each other. They each pulled a gun and fired a shot at the other, according to FOX 9.

One of the men was hit in the face; he is in critical condition at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, KSTP reports. The other man, who had a young child with him at the time, was shot in the arm and sought help at a nearby SuperAmerica gas station.

The second victim was also taken to North Memorial, but his condition is not known.

Police arrested three other men who fled the scene, and also recovered two guns, according to FOX 9. All the people involved are believed to be from Minneapolis, and police say they don't believe the shooting was random.
