Two shot, injured outside suburban metro movie theater

A Saturday night shooting outside a Maple Grove movie theater sent two people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the search is on for the gunman who shot them.

WCCO reports the shooting happened at the AMC theater in the Arbor Lakes shopping center in Maple Grove.

KSTP reports police were called to the Wendy’s near County Road 81 in nearby Brooklyn Park at around 10 p.m. The two victims had apparently driven themselves from the theater to the fast food restaurant, where they called 911.

The victims were transported to the hospital. They told responding officers that the shooting occurred at the theater. No one inside the theater was hurt. In fact, police told WCCO that moviegoers likely didn’t know that a shooting had occurred. Police blocked off a section of the theater parking lot to gather evidence.

“We had officers respond here and the Brooklyn Park location,” Capt. Adam Lindquist of the Maple Grove Police Department said. “We’re gathering all the information. We’re going to put as many pieces of the puzzle together.”

Police haven’t made any arrests and haven’t given information on a potential motive. FOX 9 reports police are pulling surveillance video from the theater to search for clues.
