A University of Minnesota veterinarian, Dr. Jeff Bender, is releasing the results of his study and it comes with a warning for anyone planning to visit the Minnesota State Fair -- which starts one week from Thursday. The assistant quit his job at Oklahoma State in 2007 because he thought Smith had hiring authority, but the U of M later withdrew the offer. The court said Williams did not have protection against negligent misrepresentations from Smith about his hiring authority.

U of M program aims to improve graduation rates of black men

Ten incoming freshmen this fall at the University of Minnesota will become the first to take part in a program geared toward improving retention and graduation rates for black men on campus. The university has some of the highest gaps in graduation rates between black and white students of any flagship university in the country.
