U of M grants request for undergrad tuition freeze
University of Minnesota's Board of Regents Friday unanimously approved a $1.18 billion biennial request to the Legislature that would trade increased funding for an undergraduate tuition freeze, the Star Tribune reported.
The University said in a statement that the freeze "commits the university to $28 million in cost savings; reduces student debt; and launches four targeted research initiatives that address some of Minnesota's toughest problems and advance the state’s economy."
The Board of Regents' page on the U of M site outlined the proposal before Friday's meeting.
