An IT specialist at the University of Minnesota has been charged with 7 counts of child porn possession.

It comes after an investigating police officer used undercover software to download child pornography from two IP addresses in Minneapolis between June last year and January.

These addresses were later traced to Christopher Pfoff, 28, of Oak Grove Street in Loring Park, Minneapolis, according to a criminal complaint.

When they arrived to search his home on Mar. 1, he initially didn't come to the door and only opened it upon realizing officers were planning to force it open.

He admitted to using the peer-to-peer platform to download files, but denied downloading child pornography.

He was searched and police found a flash drive and phone in his pockets, as well as a Sony computer on his bed.

While questioned about a previous child porn investigation he was the subject of in Maryland, Pfoff chose to leave the apartment, as was his legal right, but as he did so he grabbed the flash drive and put it in a bottle of water.

He then tried to flee the building only to be wrestled to the ground by officers, who then found a second laptop, a Dell, on top of his kitchen cabinets.

When searched, police found 80 child porn videos on the flash drive and the Dell laptop, some involving children as young as 8 years old.

Pfoff is an IT specialist at the University of Minnesota's psychology department. He also works as a mentor/personal care assistant for a disabled minor male through REM Ramsey.

"We take allegations of this nature seriously," the U of M said in a statement to KSTP. "We have not yet had an opportunity to discuss his employment status with him, and will have no further updates at this time."
