Unresponsive 2-year-old boy pulled from backyard pool

A 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive at the bottom of an outdoor pool at a Golden Valley home Monday afternoon.

A 911 caller reported the incident around 1:30 p.m. The boy was unresponsive when first responders pulled him from the pool, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

First responders performed CPR before transporting the child to the North Memorial Medical Center, where he is being treated.

The child's condition was not released.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Golden Valley Police Department and Golden Valley Fire Department responded to the home. The sheriff's office is investigating.

As of Aug. 5, there had been 21 non-boating drownings in Minnesota, which was about average for that time of year, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources told BringMeTheNews.
