Law enforcement officials in southern Minnesota tell Faribault Daily News they have apprehended a man considered armed and dangerous after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend multiple times and stealing a car during his escape.

Authorities in Rice County say they found Shane Alan Wilson, 27, Sunday afternoon in a farm field on foot in rural Steele County, according to KARE 11,

Officers found an unresponsive 26-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds in a stalled vehicle around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, KSTP reports. Two small children were also found in the car. They appeared to be unharmed and were both taken into police custody.

The Star Tribune says the woman was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where she underwent surgery.

Wilson, later identified as the victim's boyfriend, allegedly fled the scene and later stole a Chevy Impala near Owatonna, the Pioneer Press reports. That vehicle was found engulfed in flames about an hour later on a gravel road near the border of Steele and Waseca counties.

Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Faribault Daily News says authorities called off an extensive search for Wilson that involved thermal imaging cameras, police canine teams and several law enforcement agencies.
