UV vodka goes international

Minneapolis-based Phillips Distilling Co. said Monday it is now selling UV Vodka in Spain with plans to expand the brand throughout Europe and into Asia. The company is tapping into the huge demand for flavored vodkas. Some of the more unique UV flavors include chocolate cake, whipped cream, coconut and sweet green tea.

Owners of Shakers Vodka file for bankruptcy protection

Infinite Spirits Inc., filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition last month. The West Central Tribune reports the Minnesota-based company will be liquidated, but the Shakers brand could be sold. It was distilled in Benson up until last year.

Shakers Vodka brand and equipment being auctioned online

The Shakers brand will be sold along with bottling equipment and packaging materials, including recipes, patents and trademarks. Minnesota-based Infinite Spirits, the maker of Shakers Vodka, filed voluntary bankruptcy protection in early 2012. The online auction will run through June 26.

Biometric identification for international travelers at MSP

According to the Associated Press, a special kiosk will be available for pre-approved passengers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport starting Monday. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency predicts it will reduce wait times by 70 percent.

International Falls wins 'Best in Glass' taste test

International Falls won the competition held by the Minnesota Chapter of the American Water Works Association in Duluth for the best-tasting drinking water in Minnesota. St. Cloud and East Grand Forks took second and third place.
