Valleyfair amusement park in Shakopee had to close its rides for a time Saturday afternoon because of a power outage in the area.

KARE 11 reports the outage occurred a little after 5 p.m., and power was restored about an hour later.

Xcel Energy said another 50 customers in addition to Valleyfair were affected by the outage, which was caused by a cable failure, according to KARE.

Valleyfair officials said a few people were escorted off rides during the outage, and no injuries were reported, according to KSTP.
