Victims of two fatal Minneapolis shootings have been identified

The second shooting marks the ninth homicide in Minneapolis this year.

The victims involved in two separate fatal shootings in Minneapolis earlier this week have been identified.

The first victim was killed Thursday afternoon on 6th Street North in north Minneapolis, according to a release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. Officials say 40-year-old Minneapolis resident Roderick Antonio Evans died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Three suspects have been arrested, including a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, the Star Tribune reports.

The second shooting happened Friday afternoon in the parking lot of a strip mall at the 400 block of Broadway Ave. W. Investigators say there was an altercation of sorts between a man and a woman in one of the businesses. Then it moved to the parking lot, and that’s where the shooting happened.

The woman was transported to North Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, the release says. She's been identified as 26-year-old Iesha Lanell Wiley of Minneapolis. Her death marked the ninth homicide in Minneapolis this year, KSTP says.

Authorities believe the suspect and Wiley knew each other. A comment on the victim's Facebook page says "Her boyfriend killed her."
