Video of missing Duluth couple surfaces

It's from last Saturday, the day they disappeared

Family members hope newly released video that shows a missing Duluth couple on the day they disappeared will lead to a breakthrough in the search for Mary and Ron Tarnowski.

The couple's whereabouts have been a mystery since Saturday, July 29. The video posted to Facebook Friday shows Ron, who's 82, and Mary, 78, entering the Country Corner – a restaurant and bar 27 miles west of Duluth.

Their nephew, Steve Lasky, told the News Tribune the footage is from 1 p.m. Saturday. Police said this week the Tarnowskis' last known whereabouts were at 9 a.m. that day.

The Country Corner is in the town of Brookston, which is just off U.S. Highway 2. Lasky told the News Tribune his aunt and uncle may have been headed to Grand Rapids, where their sons were taking part in a weekend swap meet.

Police and family members say Ron Tarnowski has early stage dementia and Mary has paralysis on her right side and difficulty speaking following a stroke.

The couple rarely wandered far from their Duluth home, "so this is very unlike them," police said. According to the family, they left without a cellphone and the OnStar navigation system on their Chevy Tahoe is not activated.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has asked residents of the area to check their properties for any sign of the Tarnowskis.
