Ramsey County Sheriff's Office has posted a video of the K-9 officer allegedly assaulted by his deputy partner, showing that the dog is in good shape.

Members of the public expressed concern for K-9 officer Boone after it was revealed his handler had been charged with assaulting him at the Black Bear Casino in Carlton County last month.

In the training video posted Thursday, the sheriff's office said: "Here is Boone on our K-9 training field. As you can see from the video, he loves his job and is very good at it. Thank you for your continued concern for Boone, we greatly appreciate it."

The Pioneer Press reports Boone was working with the department's "most experienced K-9 deputy," but adds that his new partner has not yet been chosen.

His former partner, Brett A. Berry, 48 of Arden Hills, has been charged with animal cruelty and assaulting a public safety dog, both of which are misdemeanors.

It came after an incident at June 14 canine training event, where Barry was asked to leave the casino's Cobalt Lounge and later was seen on camera carrying his dog to the car while "visibly upset."

According to FOX 9, security video also shows the K-9 handler scolding Boone before picking it up by the collar, throwing him to the ground, and later repeatedly hitting the dog.

Deputy Berry has been placed on administrative leave while the allegations are investigated.
