Vigil for Kira Trevino planned for Thursday night

Author:

Friends and family of Kira Trevino plan to gather for a vigil at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the walking bridge on the north end of Keller Lake, KSTP reports.

The 30-year-old St. Paul woman has been missing since Feb. 21, and searches have focused on the Maplewood lake. A bag containing a pillowcase with blood matching her DNA and Trevino's clothing was found near the lake two weeks ago.

This week, investigators have drilled holes in the ice on the lake and dogs have indicated they had picked up a scent. Her family members, who have been active in volunteer searches, are hopeful they will soon find Trevino's body there, the Pioneer Press reported.

Trevino's husband Jeffery Trevino, 39, has been charged with second-degree murder in the case.

Volunteers are organizing another search at the Minnesota River Valley National Wildlife Refuge for 1 to 4 p.m Saturday, according to a search Facebook page.
