A vigil has been held for a 15-year-old boy who died after being stabbed during a fight with another boy in Rochester.
The Rochester Post Bulletin reports officers found Jose Jesus Negrete in a "very, very critical condition" at 12:35 a.m. Friday outside a Domino's Pizza on East Frontage Road NW. He was later pronounced dead at the Mayo Clinic's Saint Marys Campus.
He is believed to have been stabbed in the chest by another 15-year-old boy, who was himself stabbed in the neck.
The exact circumstances of how the two came to be fighting is yet to be established, the newspaper notes, but there is said to have been "some ongoing issue" that broke out in violence.
The Star Tribune reports that the other boy underwent surgery on his neck wound, but is not in a critical condition.
Nobody has been arrested as of yet, but police are treating the case as a homicide. The Star Tribune says four to six others aged between 13 and 16 were present during the fight.
KAAL TV reported from a candlelight vigil that was held in Rochester Friday evening next to the parking lot where Negrete died.
"When they tell you I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, and you don't believe it," his mother Monica Benavidez told the TV station.
