The Vikings will pick up Anthony Barr's 5th-year option

Barr has been a staple in Mike Zimmer's defense.

The Vikings announced they will exercise a fifth-year option on linebacker Anthony Barr.

The former first-round pick has started in 42 games over the last three seasons for Minnesota, and was named to the Pro Bowl for the past two. Over the course of his career, Barr has 270 career tackles to go along with 9.5 sacks.

He was the first draft pick that was taken in the Mike Zimmer era, and he's a big reason why the Vikings had one of the best defenses (at least statistically) in the league last season.

And how about Teddy?

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was also part of the same draft class as Barr. But with Bridgewater's health still a question mark, the team won't be picking his fifth-year option, according to Tom Pelissero.

Minnesota also announced on Monday that the team agreed to terms with 13 rookie free agents.
