A man found in a Twin Cities apartment suffered a "violent death," which has police searching for a possible suspect.

The 31-year-old was discovered around 4:30 a.m. Thursday after a disturbance call, in an apartment on the 1000 block of 41st Ave. NE in Columbia Heights, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The man was dead at the scene, with authorities only describing it as a "violent death." Police aren't identifying him at this point, and only say his last known address was in St. Louis Park.

Occupants of the apartment left before police got there – several were waiting for officers to arrive, and are being interviewed now.

But investigators are searching for one specific suspect: A man they say was a "new acquaintance" of the apartment's occupant. His exact identity isn't known, but authorities provided a surveillance photo (seen above).

People who see him should not approach, and instead call 911.

Anyone who might have information is also asked to contact Columbia Heights police or the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at 763-427-1212.
