Walter Mondale recovering from heart surgery

Former Vice President Walter Mondale is recovering from heart surgery, according to the Star Tribune.

The newspaper says a statement declared Mondale's surgery at the Mayo Clinic Wednesday a success and said the family requests privacy.

It comes barely a week after the death of his wife Joan, who was memorialized at a funeral service on Saturday.

A Rochester Post Bulletin reporter commented on Twitter about the big names currently recovering from surgery at Mayo.

Gov. Mark Dayton is recovering from hip surgery and Minnesota Twins General Manager Terry Ryan from surgery to remove cancerous cells from his neck.
