Feds cite Duluth zoo after farm animals died in flooding

U.S. Department of Agriculture officials on Aug. 28 cited the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth for inadequate shelter for its farm animals, and the zoo has already taken action to satisfy the USDA’s requirements, the Duluth News Tribune reports. Six sheep and four goats died at the zoo in June flooding.

A smaller crop of farming subsidies

Federal funding may soon drop for Minnesota farmers. Lawmakers in Washington are close to a deal that would reduce agricultural subsidies nationwide. The proposal would save $23 billion dollars over 10 years.
