Homegrown indie rock band Hippo Campus shared "Way it Goes" with a national audience on Conan Tuesday night.
The song comes off off their debut album, Landmark, which arrived on February 24.
Previously, the band put out two EPs, finished second in the 2014 City Pages Picked to Click tally, signed to Grand Jury Records, and played at 2016's Rock the Garden.
The quartet members are all graduates of St. Paul Conservatory for the Arts, they and officially formed Hippo Campus in 2013.
They shelved a full-length record in 2014, and they are reaping exciting results after saving a debut album release for this year. Before Landmark was available, the band sold out this weekend's back-to-back shows at First Avenue well in advance.
The live performance features another local musician, So Cold Records affiliate DeCarlo Jackson. Here is their swingy, carefree performance of "Way it Goes."
Hippo Campus continue their international tour, which includes stops at several festivals like SXSW and Bonnaroo. Two years ago at SXSW is when a Conan music supervisor took note of the band's shine, and invited them to make their national TV debut.
Only time will tell what this band's next big move is, but word on the street is Ed Sheeran is forming a boy band.
