This week's Game of Thrones was ... action-packed might not even do it justice. And to put the episode "Beyond the Wall" together required an impressive melding of legit physical stunt work and CGI effects.

You can see what went into it via this video uploaded to the Game of Thrones YouTube channel. (It's embedded below – and spoilers follow, obviously.)

It's a 12-minute behind-the-scenes look at how they put together the stunning frozen lake sequences.

There's some green screen (and white walker zombie actors wearing green patches) – but that flaming sword was apparently real.

It looked miserably cold, even before the chilling filters were applied.

And Dany's dragons? A little less daunting pre-computer work:
