Watch: Minnesota deputy ironically reveals technological marvels that help you drive in the snow

"This turns your headlights on ... crazy!"
Author:

Monday has been the first time for a few weeks that we've seen some reasonably crappy conditions on the road – and naturally people are losing it.

Minnesota State Patrol numbers as of 4 p.m. said there had been 288 crashes across the state, as well as 168 spinouts and 4 jackknifed semis.

It's high time for a reminder of driving safety then, for which we're going to turn the floor over to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, which has put together this very tongue-in-cheek at the marvels of modern technology.

Deputy Kyle Puelston highlights two of the wondrous technological advancements contained with drivers' vehicle – headlights and the gas pedal – and how they can be used to stay safe in the snow.

We can reveal a few more wondrous additions to the modern automobile:

Windshield wipers: This remarkable automated plastic and rubber keeps your line of vision clear as you navigate squally weather.

Defoggers: This heated angel's breath makes the frost clinging to your windows disappear as if by magic.

Brake pedal: This simple pedal has the power to stop something hundreds of times its weight in its tracks before calamity ensues.

Seat belt: Made from humble polyester, this strap of few-inches-thick material will modestly save your life in event of emergency.

Empty space: If large enough, the absence of anything between your vehicle and the one in front can prevent a collision and potential pile-up.
