Watch out for freezing rain and slick roads

Slow down and be extra careful.

Slow down if you're out on the roads this weekend. Icy conditions are expected across the state.

After overnight rain and snow, southeastern parts of Minnesota have been reporting slick road conditions Saturday morning and early afternoon.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says there have been "a number of crashes reported" so far.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain and snow should be done for the day in southeastern parts of Minnesota and southwestern parts of Wisconsin. But road conditions remain hazardous.

There's also a chance for more rain and snow in those areas Sunday morning.

Slick roads up north, too

It's not just southern Minnesota dealing with the icy conditions. Northeastern parts of the state have been getting freezing rain, too.

The NWS says that's expected to continue into this afternoon.

This comes after right after the Northland set some new record lows.
