Watch: Red Wings' OT winner came after Wild 2-on-1 rush failed

The Wild played better but the way they lost in overtime was a crusher.

If you didn't see the Wild's 3-2 overtime loss in Detroit on Sunday you missed a much better overall game from the Wild. It was a refreshing turnaround after Saturday's home loss to Vancouver, which head coach Bruce Boudreau called "embarrassing."

Still, the Wild lost and Detroit's game-winning goal in overtime came immediately after a 2-on-1 break failed to click.

Erik Haula and Zach Parise had the 2-on-1 but Haula's shot was saved by Jimmy Howard, and it led to a breakaway goal by Andreas Athanasiou.

Minnesota has seven games to go and then they'll likely host Nashville or St. Louis in the first round of the playoffs.

  • Tuesday: vs. Washington
  • Thursday: vs. Ottawa
  • Saturday: at Nashville
  • Sunday: vs. Colorado
  • Tuesday: vs. Carolina
  • Thursday: at Colorado
  • Saturday: at Arizona
