Starting in September, Matt Brickman and Kim Johnson will join WCCO TV's morning team.

WCCO announced Wednesday that the two will join Jason DeRusha and Jamie Yuccas for the morning newscast, who took over the morning anchor slots last summer.

Brickman, who currently hosts and delivers weather forecasts for WCCO Saturday Mornings and produces the station's "Best of Minnesota" segment, will replace Mike Augustyniak as the weekday morning meteorologist.

Augustyniak will switch to producing weather during the week, as well as become the weekend meteorologist.

“My body doesn’t work as well at 3 a.m. as it does at 3 p.m. I’m grateful that we were able to figure out a solution that allowed me to better balance my personal life with my work life,” Augustyniak said in a news release.

Johnson, who joined WCCO in May as the anchor on Saturday Mornings and as a reporter during the week, will be the new morning traffic reporter, taking the place of Natalie Nyhus.

Nyhus will shift to anchor Saturday Mornings and the "Best of Minnesota" series. Nyhus says she's "ready for a new challenge" and she's "honored to be able to showcase [Minnesota's] brightest spots."

The changes will take effect the week of Sept. 1, WCCO says.

In a letter sent to staff, WCCO news director Mike Caputa said Nyhus and Augustyniak requested the switch, the Star Tribune reports.
