Wealthy Twin Citians swap their dream houses


In a high-priced real estate deal, Ralph and Peggy Burnet will trade homes with Cargill Inc. heir Donald McMillan, the Business Journal reported.

The Burnets (Ralph Burnet is chairman of realty company Coldwell Banker Burnet) live in a gleaming white 8,500-square-foot mansion in Wayzata, and sold it for $9.1 million to MacMillan, the publication reported. "We're winding down," Ralph Burnet told the newspaper then of his desire to downsize.

MacMillan sold his 1916 Lake Harriet-area, five-bedroom house for $2.25 million, plus $500,000 in personal property, to the Burnets, the Business Journal reported. It had been for sale for more than a year and a half, too. The MacMillan place in the 4000 block of Fremont Avenue:

It's not unusual that high-priced homes end up being swapped between two buyers, the Business Journal reported.

Coldwell Banker Burnet sales associate Bruce Birkeland, who listed both of the properties for sale along with sales associate Ryan Burnet, told the publication, "It's like Match.com in some respects."
