Ah, that's better. These are the days we live for in Minnesota.

An overnight cold front blew away that sticky, 86-degree day Thursday in the metro, leaving a high temperature in just the mid-60s Friday with far less humidity and setting up a beautiful weekend, forecasters say.

"What a difference a few hours makes," KARE 11 meteorologist Sven Sundgaard said.

That blast of cool, crisp air cleared the way for sunny skies Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the 50s and highs of 74 Saturday and 78 Sunday in the metro, the National Weather Service says. WCCO is calling it a "top 10 weather day" for Sunday.

A chance of thunderstorms returns Monday, the weather service says. KARE reports next week could be a lot like this week, only more so: Hotter to start with a high near 80 degrees Tuesday and then highs possibly in just the 50s later in the week. WCCO says we – gasp – "could be talking frost" late next week.

Meanwhile, the weather service has this interesting stat, noting that this summer was one of the cooler summers on record:

Does that mean it could be a cooler winter, too? Not necessarily, the weather service says.
