Grandstand evacuated before Macklemore show, weather watch extended in SW MN

Concertgoers at the sold-out State Fair grandstand were told to seek shelter after lightning approached Saturday night, and a severe thunderstorm warning has been extended in southwestern Minnesota until 11 p.m.

About 15,000 people were in the grandstand for the show featuring Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, reports the Star Tribune.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has extended a severe thunderstorm watch out of Sioux Falls, saying Minnesota counties affected are Cottonwood, Jackson, Murray, Nobles and Rock, including cities of Fulda, Jackson, Lakefield, Luverne, Mountain Lake, Slayton, Windom and Worthington.

The show went off as planned, no severe weather to report as of 10:45 p.m.
