Searches for Mandy Matula of Eden Prairie will extend across a wide swath of the state over the weekend.

Matula, 24, went missing May 1. Her ex-boyfriend, David Roe shot himself outside the Eden Prairie Police Department and later died.

The Prior Lake American reports that Matula’s brother Steve will lead family and friends searching in Victoria. The group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Victoria Elementary School. In a show of support, Kira Trevino’s family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bayview Elementary School in Waconia to search that area.

Meanwhile, the St. Cloud Times reports that the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department announced plans to search targeted areas of the Mississippi River over the weekend. Roe attended St. Cloud State University and authorities say it is possible that he came to the area on the day Matula disappeared.

Areas of interest have been established in Carver, Wright, Stearns, Sherburne and Benton counties.

Eden Prairie Police on Friday released a description of the clothing Matula may have been wearing when she disappeared. WCCO-TV reports she may have been wearing a sweatshirt with a UMD logo and a pair of black Nike Air tennis shoes with white swooshes on the side.
